At last, the ambient bagpipe album nobody asked for. To be fair, ambient and bagpipes aren’t a pairing many would even consider, let alone ask for. But in his more than 35 years of playing the Scottish great highland bagpipes, Six O’Matic always heard something beyond the skirl.

A Misnomered Pipe’s Dream comprises five tracks of acoustic and electronic bagpipes, swirled amongst synthesizers and electronics. Six O’Matic brings his award-winning, highland piping background to the brink of tradition, deftly blending experimental and improvisational methods to create an ambient album nobody realized they needed to hear.
